Yosemite-Tioga Pass

yosemite-np-patchTioga Pass is a mountain pass in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and serves as an eastern entry point for Yosemite National Park. This is the highest highway pass in California. Tioga is named for an Iroquois and Mohawk term meaning “where it forks.” Tioga Pass Road is closed from late October until the end of May or sometimes early June. The road had just opened while we were staying in the Eastern Sierra so we had to go across! It’s a completely different perspective of Yosemite from above. If you have the time after exploring Yosemite Valley, this is a must.
